One-to-One Literacy Support

As the new school year begins, Reading Partners North Texas continues to provide ongoing, innovative support to students across Dallas-Fort Worth. With the help and generosity of the community, we are able to leave a positive and lasting impact on not only our students but also their families, our volunteers, and more! 

A Senior Program Coordinator shared this story:

Carly was a 3rd-grade student that struggled with letter sounds when she started with Reading Partners. With the help of her tutor, she set a goal to get better at decoding words, while retaining sight words. She was attentive, asked questions, and gave her best effort each session. As time passed, her reading levels increased and she began reading more complex words and books. One day during a session, I overheard her conversation with her tutor: “My mom told me she is so proud of me. Last year, I didn’t know how to read, but now I’m learning. She says ‘Thank You'.” This made me remember why I joined Reading Partners in the first place. Her progress brought so much joy and pride not only to herself, but also to her teacher, family, the Reading Partners team, and so many more.
