Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy

The Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy (BOMLA) opened in 2011 as the first single-gender male magnet school in Dallas ISD and North Texas. BOMLA is currently located in the A. Maceo Smith building in the heart of Oak Cliff, named after civil rights leader Antonio Maceo Smith. The magnet campus serves students in grades 6-12. BOMLA’s curriculum challenges students beyond the traditional comprehensive academic curriculum with multiple foreign languages (German, Latin, Spanish, Mandarin) and Pre-Advanced Placement and Advanced Placement courses complemented by a robust array of extracurricular activities (eSports, lacrosse, rowing, golf). Students receive a premier education that is tailor-made to develop character and leadership while sharpening academic skills. What's more, students are required to complete a summer term and community service hours.
