Light of Hope Immigration Law Center

It was a beautiful morning in North Texas. As the sun began to rise, the small community center was already bustling with activity. Banners that read "Light of Hope- Citizenship Clinic" stood outside the door.  Volunteers, hailing from diverse backgrounds, set up stations inside, while eager attendees began to trickle in, clutching stacks of paperwork.

Among them was Hortensia,  a mother of two looking for more safety in her legal status. Life in Texas offered safety, but the lack of citizenship weighed on her, often making her feel like an outsider. Today, that was going to change.

Next, there was Carmen, from Mexico. She come to the U.S. seeking a better life and now dreams of one day improving her English skills to secure a better job. Eager to make the United States her permanent home, she looked forward to the support of Light of Hope.

As the day progressed, attendees met with lawyers and volunteers, clarifying doubts, filling out forms, and sharing stories.  Lawyers worked pro bono, guiding everyone meticulously. By the end of the day, Hortensia, Carmen, and many others left with hope in their hearts and the confidence to tackle the next steps in their journey to citizenship.
