As many of you know, North Texas Giving Day is an annual event that provides a platform for non-profits to raise much-needed funds. This year, I am  advocating for Cowtown Friends, the non-profit that I helped found, which is committed to supporting Fort Worth Animal Care and Control (FWACC). Our overall goal for North Texas Giving Day is $10,000. While this sum will make an enormous difference in the lives of animals at FWACC, I have set a personal goal to raise $2,500 specifically for the foster closet.

Why?

I’m dedicating this effort in honor of Birdie, my FWACC alum whose life was quite literally saved by a foster parent who stepped up at the last minute when she ended up on a euthanasia list.  Without this wonderful soul stepping up and taking her into his home, Birdie never would have been tagged by a rescue, which is where she ultimately came flying into my life.

If Birdie could talk, she would tell you that the days she spent in foster care were the turning point in her life, the bridge that carried her from a life of uncertainty to a home filled with love. And Birdie is just one of the countless animals who have been touched by such programs and I constantly think of how many more fosters would step up if they were not concerned about not having the necessary supplies or who are concerned about the financial burden of fostering.   It is my hope that by continuing to stock the foster closet with necessary supplies for fosters, other dogs like Birdie will continue to have a second chance at life.

I am asking for your help today not just as friends and family but as fellow animal lovers and compassionate humans. Let’s honor Birdie and all the animals given a second chance by helping me reach my fundraising goal.
