"Breed discrimination is an outdated assumption, that is not supported by science, hurting families and forcing them to make an unthinkable decision to part with their pet,” -  Best Friends Animal Society

Life happens.

Have you ever had to think about what would happen to your bully breed pet if you had to move? Move to a new city... Divorce or break up... Change in income. Obviously you would want your pet to come with you; they are our family members after all. But what if you could not find a place to live because you have a bully breed. Not because of their temperament, personality, energy level, age, dog friendliness... but solely because of how they were born and how they look.

Breed discrimination is not only unfair to the dog, but also the human. Owner surrenders at shelters are often the first to be euthanized.

Some examples of breed discrimination include rental restrictions, liability insurance requirements, additional fees, mandatory muzzling, and restrictions to access certain places like public parks or school grounds.

According to The Animal Farm Foundation, “All breed-specific policies and laws can be traced to racism, classism, and ableism. Sometimes this discrimination is against the homeless, people of lesser means, sometimes it’s about ableism, denying people with disabilities access, and other times it’s about racial profiling and stereotypes.” Multiple studies are showing a direct link between breed discrimination and race or ethnicity.

I'm raising money for The Love Pit continuing to educate the DFW metroplex and our followers nationwide on why breed discrimination is ineffective. It starts with educating our communities and leading by example with responsible dog ownership.

Please consider donating to show that you will not stand for discrimination! All dogs deserve to stay with their owner and live a long healthy life!
