Project Transformation (PT) National supports a network of nine affiliated chapters across the country, including two in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. PT National facilitates the sustainable replication of the PT model of ministry in new places and supports the continued growth and development of existing chapters. PT's network collectively engages 300 college-age young adults and over 2,000 volunteers to impact the lives of over 2,000 children and youth in 34 churches and communities.
One of the most significant outcomes is that 97% of the children whom we serve avoid the academic "summer slide" by maintaining or improving their reading levels during the summer. This is especially significant when considering that nearly 50% of low-income students suffer substantial learning loss each summer.
But PT's impact does not stop with children. It is our college-age young adults who are often the ones that are transformed the most from the experience. Beyond leading and implementing the summer programming for children, our young adults live in intentional community and participate in ministry exploration and vocational discernment while serving with PT. As a result, 92% of recent alumni feel more prepared for future leadership in the church or community. In addition, 62% of alumni stay active in ministry and service, and 11% have enrolled in or graduated from seminary.
Finally, PT's work is critical in inspiring hope and renewal in churches and surrounding communities. During a time in which many churches are in a state of transition, PT provides a relevant, relationship-centered model of ministry through which these churches have an opportunity to ignite the God-given potential in youth and, in turn, their communities. While this work is a long-term investment, PT has witnessed the fruit of this investment with many local churches, establishing lasting relationships with the community and expanding new ministries with their neighbors that continue throughout the year.

Our Needs

Our society is in a crisis of isolation and division. Gaps in mutual understanding and equity prevent youth, and ultimately their communities, from reaching their full, God-given potential. Youth are our best hope to turn the tide and create a more loving and just world. In emerging adults, we can create a new generation of servant leaders to restore connection and forge a future we can all believe in.

Mission

Our mission is to transform communities by engaging children, college-age young adults, and churches in purposeful relationships. Project Transformation provides ministry exploration and vocational discernment internships for college age young adults. In turn, these young adults implement literacy, social-emotional and spiritual programming for children and youth from under-resourced communities. Programs are strategically housed within churches to help build relationships with their neighbors.

Needs

Project Transformation was created at a grassroots level, but it takes more than just passion to build and sustain a mission. PT National is in the midst of a 5-year, multi-million dollar capacity-building campaign to strengthen and scale Project Transformation's impact in DFW and across the country. An investment in the national office helps us spread consistent, effective approaches to programs, plus track data that every chapter can use for ongoing improvement. From responding together to the COVID-19 crisis to developing and sharing best practices in programming, fundraising and administration, we save PT chapters time and money so they can devote local leadership and resources to creating the strongest impact possible.

Equity Statement

Project Transformation believes all people are of equal, sacred worth. We recognize that systemic injustice continues to harm individuals and communities. As we live out our Christian faith, we will denounce discrimination and inequity and create a community of belonging.
