Help alcoholics, their families, and their communities find hope, clarity, and joy.

Together we can build a thriving community of recovered alcoholics and their families — one person at a time.

The Magdalen House is a nonprofit organization committed to helping individuals with alcoholism and their families establish long-term, sustainable recovery by providing comprehensive, spiritually based programming that is both accessible and effective.

Founded in Dallas in 1987, The Magdalen House continues to be the only agency in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to offer comprehensive recovery services, without government assistance or payment from insurance, 100% free of charge. One in nine adults suffers from alcoholism- that is over 657,000 people in the Dallas area, and less than 10% of them will seek help or receive care. After 36 years, The Magdalen House continues to play a vital role in changing the lives of alcoholic individuals and their families, ultimately creating a healthier and thriving community.

The Magdalen House presents the simple problem of alcoholism, along with a practical application of the solution through the following programs:

First Step Program

Cost to Run: $2,000 per person. Cost to participants: FREE

First Step is a two-week residential, non-medical detox program which provides a safe and understanding setting for an individual with alcoholism to physically separate from alcohol while being immersed in support and education from recovered individuals in the community at no cost.

First Step Program

Next Step Program

Cost to Run: $1,300 per person. Cost to participants: FREE

Next Step is a three-phase, approximately three-month, peer-to-peer recovery program in a non-residential environment which provides structure and education on foundational tools to any individual with alcoholism seeking to sustain and grow in their recovery.

Next Step program

Community Program

Cost to Run: $120 per person. Cost to participants: FREE

The Community program provides opportunities to build a thriving community for people in recovery from alcoholism and their families. This includes, meetings, workshops, fellowship events and auxiliary groups.

Family Support Program

The Family Support program serves as a community for friends, loved ones, and family members of individuals with alcoholism to learn about the disease of alcoholism, understand how to support an alcoholic, and experience an improved quality of life regardless of the alcoholic’s recovery.

Family Support Program

The mission of The Magdalen House is to help individuals with alcoholism achieve sobriety and sustain recovery at no cost and based on 12-step spiritual principles.

We currently seek support for our on-going operational expenses, including funding and resources for each of our programs: First Step, Next Step, Community which includes Family Support, and Outreach.

Just this year we launched a beta program serving men. We hope to grow this program and offer a full spectrum of recovery services to both women and men.

We believe that when you invest in an alcoholic individual, you help their family, their place of employment, and the community as a whole. Whether your donation is $1, $1,000, or somewhere in-between, every gift helps save the life of an alcoholic woman or man.

Equity Statement

Alcoholism does not discriminate and neither should the solution.
