Empowering Recovery Through Community

One in ten adults suffers from alcoholism—this means over 662,000 people in the Dallas–Fort Worth area alone. Every single day, 1,800 alcoholics are newly identified. Fewer than 8% will seek help.

Since 1987, The Magdalen House has been the only privately funded nonprofit in DFW to provide comprehensive recovery services—completely free, with no insurance required. For more than 38 years, we’ve helped transform lives and support families, building a healthier, stronger community.

The Magdalen House presents the problem of alcoholism, along with a practical application of the solution for any alcoholic through the following programs:

First Step Program

Cost to Run: $2,300 per person. Cost to participants: FREE

First Step is a two-week, residential program for an alcoholic who wants to stop drinking, but cannot. They are provided with the education and resources to achieve sobriety and build a foundation of recovery.

Mission

The mission of The Magdalen House is to help individuals with alcoholism achieve sobriety and sustain recovery at no cost and based on 12-step spiritual principles.

Needs

We currently seek support for our on-going operational expenses, including funding and resources for each of our programs: First Step, Next Step, Community which includes Family Support, and Outreach.

We believe that when you invest in an alcoholic individual, you contribute to healthier families, more stable communities, and a reduction in the societal costs associated with alcoholism. Whether your donation is $1, $1,000, or anywhere in-between, every gift helps transform the life of a person struggling with alcoholism.

Equity Statement

Alcoholism does not discriminate and neither should the solution. To realize the mission of helping individuals with alcoholism achieve sobriety and sustain recovery, the Magdalen House proudly employs, engages, and welcomes women and men of any ethnicity, culture, age, religious affiliation, and sexual orientation to the organization.
