$100,000 Goal

First Tee - Greater Dallas is a youth development organization that enables kids to build the strength of character that empowers them through a lifetime of new challenges. By seamlessly integrating the game of golf with a life skills curriculum, we create active learning experiences that build inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience that kids can carry to everything they do. We’re Building Game Changers through our junior golf programs.

One of our own young participants, Lupita Barbosa, won the 100th anniversary of the Dallas exchange Club’s Junior Golf Tournament, which is one of the oldest Junior golf tournaments in Dallas and open to play to all junior golfers.

In addition, First – Tee Greater Dallas has one of the most successful scholarship programs and this year we provided college scholarships to 32 children. Our success rate of our young adults either graduating or remaining in college to go on and graduate is more that 90%.

MATCHING GRANT DOUBLES YOUR IMPACT

We are grateful to announce a Matching Grant to help our rapid programming to support our coaches. This grant comes from a private donor that has made a huge Impact on our Chapter for many years and has supported our RCV Leadership & Learning Center since inception. Help us to continue “Building Game Changers” for the future.

Mission

At First Tee – Greater Dallas, we provide the opportunity for our participants to experience success. We’re “Building Game Changers” by empowering kids and teens through the game of golf. Through our programs and mentoring we enable kids to build the strength of character that will empower them through a lifetime of new challenges. The fundamental sustainability of our chapter is dependent upon the direct support it receives from corporations, foundations and individual donors.

Needs

At First Tee – Greater Dallas, our biggest needs are to maintain our coaches and to ensure that we can give them all the necessary ongoing training needed to provide children and teens with the very best coaching and resources. This also includes transportation, equipment and to support our RCV Learning Center.

This year, we had over 1,000 children and teens participate in our summer programs. Since we didn’t have the full-time staff to handle this volume, we had to hire additional resources to handle this growth, so that we don't have to turn children away.

In order to meet our objectives, we need to :

• Hire additional coaches to expand the number of participants served and classes offered

• Invest in transportation (buses and drivers) between schools and our program locations

• Increase educational programming, including female and teen specific options

• Increase program scholarship funding, allowing for more at-risk youth to attend college

• Provide supplemental resources for families and participants, including financial literacy program, health and wellness programs, etc.
