$50,000 Goal

Hope Cottage was founded in 1918 to address the mass abandonment of children on the streets of Dallas because of the Spanish Flu and post-WWI fatalities. At the time, the State had no organized way to care for the children, so our founder, Emma Wylie Ballard, opened an orphanage to provide safe and loving homes for these children. Over the last century, we've evolved into an institution that utilizes a personal, inclusive and local approach to services that meet the growing needs of the clients we serve. Our four program areas include: Infant Care Adoption, Foster Care Services, Youth Education and Prevention, and Parenting Support. Together, these programs guide the community in building healthy, long-lasting family relationships.

Our continuum of services include:

  • Building relationship skills - we help youth and adults develop the skills needed to forge healthy, long-lasting relationships.
  • Support new families - we provide personalized guidance for growing North Texas families, whether they are new parents or looking to foster or adopt.
  • Nurture family relationships - families use our education, counseling, and support to make their relationships stronger - now and for a lifetime.
  • Educate family service professionals - we train education, health and social service professionals so they can provide the best possible support for families.
