The Dallas/Fort Worth Asian-American Citizens Council was established and became a non-profit organization in 2000. Its goal is to give Asians a stronger voice in mainstream society as well as their respective communities. The organization also strives to encourage more Asian Americans to participate in civic affairs by providing leadership training, organizing political forums, and voter registration drives.
Our many accomplishments include uniting Asian-Americans from the DFW area to raise more than $500,000 for the 9/11 Disaster Relief Fund for the American Red Cross. We organize Candidate Forums in local cities as well as open dialogues with Mayors from different cities. We execute Voter Registration drives on an ongoing basis to get the Asian American community become involved in public affairs. We also collaborate with other national organizations in conducting exit polls for Asian Americans in Presidential and mid-term elections. We have encouraged local municipalities to recognize annually, the significance of May as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month through official proclamations. DFW AACC's collaboration with Asian Community organizations on the professional and youth leadership
programs have helped hundreds of participants gain valuable career and college advice.
Our Needs
We are always looking for volunteers and financial support to carry out our objectives for the year. Since it is a 100% volunteer organization with no paid positions, we are eager to welcome any adult interested in helping to have a discussion with our leadership team for opportunities.
