The Edith Cavell Nursing Scholarship Fund was established in 1954. The Edith Cavell Nursing Scholarship Fund is co-sponsored by the Dallas County Medical Society Alliance Foundation which was organized in 1917 and is the oldest operating alliance in the nation. Its members consist of more than 210 physicians and spouses whose goals are to support medicine, promote health education through community programming and provide enrichment and educational opportunities for its members and healthcare students.
The DCMSAF members and Edith Cavell Board of Trustees provide mentorship and career networking opportunities for the chosen Edith Cavell scholars.

Our Needs

The DCMSAF Edith Cavell Nursing Scholarship Fund desires to offer more substantial and more numerous monetary scholarships for the education and training of student nurses in Dallas County baccalaureate nursing programs.
Dallas County baccalaureate nursing school costs continue to escalate each year. Below are the average 2018-2019 tuition rates for the two qualifying nursing schools in Dallas County.
Baylor Louise Herrington School of Nursing: $42,842
Texas Woman's University T. Boone Pickens College of Nursing: $21,111

Mission

The purpose of the Fund is to aid, financially, any man or woman in Dallas County who desires to become a nurse by attending a Dallas County baccalaurete nursing program. They must meet and maintain a 3.0 GPA and demonstrates the type of personality and character necessary for a successful nursing career. Applicants must furnish proof of need for financial assistance.
