About Dallas College Foundation
Dallas College Foundation supports Dallas College in its efforts to provide an accessible, affordable education that puts our students on the path to ‘thriving wage’ careers. Since its inception in 1973, DCF has raised more than $83 million in private donations and awarded more than $42 million in scholarships and grants to thousands of Dallas College students.
We achieve our mission by:
• Providing students with scholarships, childcare, food assistance, emergency aid, and other assistance that ensures that students from all backgrounds can attend, persist and graduate.
• Supporting innovative student programming, educational pathways, advising programs and other experiences that together drive student and community success.
Our Need
DALLAS COLLEGE WORKS TO BREAK DOWN BARRIERS FOR STUDENTS: Dallas College serves over 100,000 students each year, many of whom face a daunting array of life challenges, from balancing work and school to navigating the difficulties that come with food, housing, and financial insecurity. These challenges and their implications can be life altering, as many of these issues obligate our students to choose between paying for their educational expenses or paying for basic necessities. For our students to persist, graduate, and ultimately thrive, they need peace of mind knowing that Dallas College Foundation will support them in the event of an emergency.
OUR SOLUTION: THE EMERGENCY AID FUND: The Emergency Aid Fund assists Dallas College students who are on the verge of suspending their educational pursuits when financial emergencies arise. Not only does this initiative relieve immediate financial stress by providing critical assistance to cover shelter, utilities, food, childcare fees, transportation and more, but it also improves overall student outcomes by helping students focus on learning and course completion. Specifically, the Emergency Aid Fund offers relief to students dealing with:

 |
$75 can help ensure a student has class access (online and face-to-face) |
 |
$150 can put food on the table for a parent and her children |
 |
$300 can keep the lights on and a family in their home |
 |
$500 can provide emergency shelter while a student relocates |
Every month, the emergency aid fund receives over 100 requests for assistance and every month that number continues to rise. To mitigate this issue, we ask you to please consider making a gift through this year’s North Texas Giving Day! Thank you!
Sincerely,
Dallas College Foundation
