Cynthia Mickens Ministries, Inc. (CMM) was created in 2002 with the mission to "provide the tools and resources to help individuals live the life they were created to live."
Accomplishments to Date: Since created in 2002, CMM has:
Acquired almost five acres of land, church building, a multi-purpose building, and two 2-bedroom homes in the City of Hutchins;
Recruited a 10-member active Board of Directors representing ethnic/cultural diversity and breadth of relevant expertise;
Built strong and supportive relationships with community leaders, business owners, and interested citizens who are committed to seeing the program vision of CMM fulfilled;
Generated a significant numbers of volunteers helping with the program;
Dr. Cynthia Mickens Ross developed and copyrighted the Path-Way to Purpose® Course that has demonstrated effectiveness in empowering women for economic self-sufficiency;
Graduated over 350 women from the PWP course; 38% of the graduates have started their own businesses; 18% of these are engaged full time in their businesses;
Created Path~Way to Purpose® for Kids out-of-school program for 6-12-year-olds
Developed partnerships with Garden of Eden Organic FarmingTM to provide nutrition education and gardening experience;
Initiated in September of 2011 Friday Night Fellowship, a well-received series of seminars on a variety of life issue topics that help participants to live the life they are created to live;
Obtained pro-bono architectural renderings and cost estimates for a phased-construction 100-unit townhome program complex;
Made the two 2-bedroom homes ready for occupancy by women and their children in a two-single-mother household shared living arrangement;
Created an organizational development and staffing plan; and
Engaged a consulting firm that serves nonprofits to assist the organization in developing the program within best practices and building the infrastructure for sound operations and financial sustainability.

Our Needs

To increase our capacity to serve, Cynthia Mickens Ministries, Inc. is seeking donations to expand our residential housing program and to increase the number of women with children served. Our goal is $150,000 to maintain and increase the existing services.

Mission

Cynthia Mickens Ministries, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Hutchins, Texas, that addresses a critical need in Dallas County: single mothers of young children who lack safe housing and adequate income to care for themselves and their children. Several thousand of these women have the capacity to become economically self-sufficient if provided services specifically designed to achieve this outcome. Cynthia Mickens Ministries, Inc., core program is the Path~Way to Purpose(R) course. Phase I is a 12-week guided study to discover of purpose. Phase II, My Life Strategic Plan is a 12-week course that provides coaching to develop a strategic, tactical plan to accomplish set goals. Because 38% of graduates started a business, and 18% are employed full-time by their businesses, we developed Phase III, Practical Tools to Starting a Business, a 12-week course to create a strong business structure.
