Continuing the Transformation
In the heart of our small Texas town, the Commerce Public Library stands as a vibrant symbol of learning, connection, and community. It’s more than just a building—it’s where neighbors meet, children grow, ideas flourish, and stories come to life.
Thanks to the generous support of our community, the City of Commerce, and a transformation grant from the Tocker Foundation, our library has undergone an exciting revitalization. Inside, you’ll now find fresh furniture and shelving that have transformed our spaces into warm, welcoming places to read, study, create, and connect. The new layout has improved comfort and accessibility for all who visit—and the response from our patrons has been overwhelmingly positive.
But our story doesn’t end here.
There’s still work to be done, and we invite you to be part of what comes next.
While the inside of our library feels renewed, maintaining our historic building remains a key priority. Features like our original windows and the iconic front porch pillars are essential to the library’s character and charm—but they’re also aging and in need of repair. These elements not only define the building’s architectural beauty, they also represent the enduring legacy of our library in the community. Your support helps us preserve these important features so the library remains a welcoming and beautiful place for years to come.
At the same time, we’re looking beyond our walls. We dream of transforming Authors’ Park, the green space next to the library, into an inviting outdoor courtyard that extends our mission into the open air. With outdoor furniture, garden enhancements, and event lighting, we can create a place where families attend storytimes under the trees, friends gather for evening events, and patrons enjoy quiet afternoons in the sun with a good book.
Your support this year will help us:
Help maintain our historic building, preserving the character and legacy of our library
Enhance Authors’ Park, turning it into a true downtown destination and outdoor extension of the library
Sustain our core services, from maintaining a strong collection to expanding digital access and offering meaningful programming for all ages
The Commerce Public Library is thriving—but to keep growing, we need your help. Every dollar brings us closer to realizing our full vision for the library as a place of learning, joy, and connection for everyone.
Help us continue transforming the library into a space where the entire community can thrive.Thank you for being part of our story.
