African Christian Outreach

A nonprofit organization

African Christian Outreach (ACO) began in 1980 under the leadership of Allen and Alice Stickney. Their vision was to disciple and encourage college students in Kenya. Their daily presence on university campuses grew over the years, their impact on the lives of young adults was amazing.

In 2010 the Stickney's son, Tom, and his family stepped in to not only manage the existing ministry, but to build it to what it is today - a ministry that disciples students on more than 25 university campuses, and works with pastors and high school students in 8 East African countries.

Every week ACO shares the love of Jesus with hundreds of college students. All across East Africa local men and women trained by ACO are leading Bible studies, building relationships, and mentoring new and maturing Christian. Lives are changed for the present and for eternity because ACO is there.

ACO is unique in many ways. Things like hiring a staff of over 50 dedicated African Christians to be the face of the ministry. They are the ones knocking on dorm doors, leading Bible study groups, introducing students of all ages to the concept of community service and writing daily devotionals and Bible studies for KUZA, an app developed by Kenyans for East Africans.

ACO trains a whole new group of successful East African entrepreneurs by teaching them how to develop a business plan, provide a product, handle marketing, and make decisions about future growth. All while sharing Jesus and teaching the importance of depending on Him to guide every phase of their lives.

ACO is discipling the next generation of East African business leaders, and possibly even a future world leader. The ministry wraps its arms around nonbelievers and new Christians as they seek God's vision for their lives.

Our Needs

Once COVID-19 is no longer claiming lives and disrupting economies, ACO will go back to needing hands-on, feet-on-the-ground volunteers. These volunteers can teach Bible studies, business classes, job-training programs, marriage seminars, and/or to set up sports camp for children, work with orphanages already a part of ACO's community service projects, churches as they build youth programs, a pregnancy crisis center, and on university campuses.

As with all nonprofits, funding to be able to continue the work begun in 1980 is of utmost importance.

Mission

African Christian Outreach exists to Engage young people in East Africa with the Gospel, Equip them through discipleship, and Empower them with life-on-life experiences.
