Did you know that White Rock Lake Park is a city park? The park consists of a 1,015 acre city lake with over 9 miles of trails, several boat clubs, picnic areas, rental facilities and a dog park. Over 2 million people a year visit the park from all over the state and country yet it is considered a city park and is maintained by the Dallas Parks Dept. Due to budget constraints the department can't fund all the improvements the park needs.

This is where the White Rock Lake Conservancy comes in. The Conservancy works with the Park Department to identify, develop, and fundraise for crucial improvements at White Rock Lake Park. The current project is a new playground and green space at the Stone Tables picnic area. A custom-designed natural playground at the Stone Tables at White Rock Lake will offer inclusive play opportunities for children of varying ages and abilities as well as resting areas for runners, bikers, and people of all ages. Please donate today to support these much needed improvements in White Rock Lake Park.

Mission

The mission of the Conservancy is to enhance the identity, beauty, and safety of White Rock Lake Park in partnership with Dallas Park and Recreation and the surrounding community. The Conservancy supports improvement projects deemed vital to the future integrity of the park through major fundraising initiatives and development expertise.

Needs

We have set a goal on North Texas Giving Day of bringing in donations from over 200 donors and $80,000. All monies will go directly to the new playground at the stone tables park within the park. For more details on the design and how to have your name in the park please see our website or contact our Executive Director, Jennifer Hoesterey.

The natural aesthetic and design of the playground will allow users to sit and enjoy nature while the kids play on 3 Age Based Play Zones with climbing features, sensory exploration and swing areas. A shaded stone podium and drinking fountain serve as a central gathering space while providing a cool respite from the Texas sun. Each play area features a stone bench for caregivers to keep an eye on their children and make their own connections. The proposed poured-in-place rubber surface is accessible to wheelchairs and strollers. Over 60 trees, and 12,650 square feet of sun/shade grasses complete the inviting space.
