From underwear to soap and food, neighbors are offered hope with love. Our purpose is to prevent homelessness and/or utility disconnection for residents in five zip codes; to stave off hunger and reduce food insecurity, to clothe the needy and to be of service to residents in East Dallas. Powered by volunteers, neighbors help neighbors by providing access to nutritional groceries for nearly 500 families a month, providing emergency bill pay assistance once in a 12-month period, and offering access to a clothing closet quarterly. Once their most basic needs are met people are more inclined to be empowered, they can see beyond the immediate moment of crisis. New empowerment programs that increase overall wellbeing and economic self-sufficiency, have seen 100% increase in participation. Food needs and food distribution is up nearly 50% over last year.
Our Needs
Shop - Donate - Volunteer!
Cash is King; WRCH helps prevent evictions and utility disconnections allocating more than $100,000 annually. They purchase items that are often not donated like new socks, underwear, and specific foods, like milk or eggs, with additional cash raised through this Giving Day event.
Canned protein, shelf stable foods and full size hygiene products help neighbors with food security and household products NOT available for purchase with SNAP benefits. Things like: laundry soap, toilet paper, shampoo, diapers, feminine hygiene, toothpaste and more.
Donated goods in excellent condition help stock the clothes closet or are sold in the Thrift Store, where all proceeds go back into programs.
Volunteers provide the energy and action to serve the community. Shifts are available M-F 7am-1pm in Neighbors Services; and M-Sat 9am-5pm in the Thrift Store.
