TCA - Help Keep the Promise

Turtle Creek isn't beautiful by accident. 

Every day, thousands of people walk its trails, admire its historic bridges, enjoy the shade of towering trees, and find peace in one of Dallas' most beloved public parks.  It is a place where nature, history, and community come together; where neighbors gather, families explore, runners train, visitors discover the city, and wildlife flourishes. 

What most people don't see is everything it takes to keep it that way.

They don't see the more than 10 tons of trash and debris removed from the creek annually.  They don't notice invasive vegetation being cleared to restore wildlife habitat, safety concerns being addressed, or the ongoing care required to preserve this treasured public space.  They enjoy a park that feels clean, safe, and welcoming.

The beauty of Turtle Creek isn't self-sustaining; it exists because a community invests in it every day.

 For nearly 40 years, the Turtle Creek Association (TCA) has been that steward. Over the past five years, TCA has evolved from maintaining the landscaped medians along Turtle Creek Boulevard to serving as the long-term steward of the 90-acre Turtle Creek Corridor. 

Today, we care for more than 2,600 trees, remove more than 10 tons of trash and debris annually, preserve historic bridges, and restore wildlife habitat (we now have beavers!)  We enhance public safety and maintain the landscapes that make Turtle Creek one of Dallas' most beautiful and welcoming public parks. 

Many people assume Turtle Creek is fully maintained by the City of Dallas.  In reality, much of the stewardship that keeps the park thriving is made possible through private philanthropy led by TCA.  The work is accomplished without a single dollar of taxpayer funding. 

Help Keep the Promise

Like every great park, Turtle Creek requires year-round care.  As public funding for parks, environmental maintenance, and urban green spaces continues to decline, private support has become more important than ever. 

Turtle Creek is a beloved public park and a vital part of Dallas' stormwater system.  Every rainfall carries litter and debris from Central Expressway and surrounding neighborhoods into the creek.  That pollution threatens wildlife, water quality, the Trinity River, and even all the way to the Gulf of Mexico.

Protecting Turtle Creek is never a one-time project.  Every restored bridge must be maintained. Every enhanced landscape must be cared for.  Every season brings new cleanup, repairs, habitat restoration, and beautification.
