The Flower Mound Chapter: Founded in 2015, we are proud to be the 200th chapter in Texas!
We have partnered with the Flower Mound Presbyterian Cemetery (established in 1854) and Chinn Chapel Cemetery to properly honor the veterans buried there. Our chapter provides flags for Memorial Day, clean the headstones and markers as well as honor the veterans in December with a holiday wreath by participating in the National Wreaths Across America Day.
On December 18, 2021, we will be remembering and honoring 250 veterans through the laying of Remembrance Wreaths on the graves of our country's fallen heroes and through the act of saying the name of each and every veteran aloud.
In addition to our partnership with the Flower Mound Presbyterian Cemetery, Chinn Chapel Cemetery and Wreaths Across America, we are also active in our community schools providing literature and information during constitution week as well as sponsoring scholarships for JROTC and Civil Air Patrol locally. Last year we were able to sponsor 3 scholarships: one to a JROTC cadet at Flower Mound High School for $300 and two for Civil Air Patrol cadets for $150 each. We also provided an $847 donation to Community Cristian Action (CCA) to cover the costs for 8 children in CCA's Back to School Campaign. We are honored to decorate the USO club for the holidays to welcome soldiers at DFW Airport.
We also provide donations of feminine hygiene products to She Supply (a local nonprofit whose mission is to "provide a sense of decency & cleanliness to women in need"). We honor our local veterans with holiday parties like an ice cream social on the 4th of July. We have made over 6000 masks for local and national distribution. We have made lap quilts for local Veterans. We provided appreciation " Service to America" snack baskets to local Fire, Police and Sheriff's officers.
Since 1890, members of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution have dedicated themselves to historical preservation, education and patriotism through civic engagement throughout their communities.
DAR members come from many backgrounds and interests, but all share a common bond of having an ancestor who helped contribute to securing the independence of the United States of America.
We support the veterans, schools and community of Flower Mound with a variety of outreach projects.
