St. Mary of Carmel has been serving the West Dallas community for 77 years. More than 67% of the adults in West Dallas have less than a 12th grade education, and we are striving to break the cycle of poverty in our community. The children in our community need the educational foundation St. Mary of Carmel can provide to put them on the path to success. We have two major goals for all of our students: College and Heaven. This means that we must prepare our students at a rigorous academic level, while also teaching them to live lives of virtue.
Our Needs
We believe that economic status should not determine a child's access to a quality, Catholic education and strive to provide for all students in our neighborhood. At St. Mary of Carmel, we currently serve 147 students. Approximately 62% of our students qualify for the National Free and Reduced Lunch program and 92% percent of our students receive financial assistance. Due to the low cost of tuition and high number of students receiving financial assistance, St. Mary of Carmel operates under many budgetary constraints.
Some of our top priority needs currently are:
-Additional Funds for Tuition Assistance
-Support for Teacher Salaries
-Increased External Security
-Online Software Subscriptions to support flexible learning
