St. Mary of Carmel has been serving the West Dallas community for 80 years. More than 67% of the adults in West Dallas have less than a 12th grade education, and we are striving to break the cycle of poverty in our community. The children in our community need the educational foundation St. Mary of Carmel can provide to put them on the path to success. We have two major goals for all of our students: College and Heaven. This means that we must prepare our students Basic t a rigorous academic level, while also teaching them to live lives of virtue.
We believe that economic status should not determine a child's access to a quality, Catholic education and strive to provide for all students in our neighborhood. At St. Mary of Carmel, we currently serve 142 students. Approximately 62% of our students qualify for the National Free and Reduced Lunch program and 92% percent of our students receive financial assistance. Due to the low cost of tuition and high number of students receiving financial assistance, St. Mary of Carmel operates under many budgetary constraints.
Some of our top priority needs currently are:
-Additional Funds for Tuition Assistance
-Support for Teacher Salaries
-Basic upgrades to facilities and beautification
-Online Software Subscriptions to support flexible learning -Campus security enahancement
St. Mary of Carmel's mission is to serve our students by providing a quality, Catholic education in a safe and nurturing environment.
We aim to build the Kingdom of Heaven by forming saints and scholars who are prepared for high school. Our two goals for all of our students are College and Heaven.
At St. Mary of Carmel, we are always looking for support for tuition assistance and programs. We also are in need of volunteers and board members!
At St. Mary of Carmel School, no person is discriminated against because of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, or disability. All Catholic schools within the Diocese admit students of any race to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities of the school and provide equal opportunity and access to persons without regard to race in administration of educational policies, admission policies, and any other school administered programs.
