The Rhome Community Library is an independent 501(c)3 Corporation serving the residents of Rhome, Texas, and all neighboring communities as well as all Northwest ISD students and faculty and their families. We were the first library in Wise County! We proudly provide a variety of services, materials and programs for all ages as described and linked below. Your donations will help us continue providing these services in the future.

We offer the following at no charge to the participants.

  1. FOR CHILDREN - We host an Annual Summer Reading Program with age-appropriate reading incentives plus a variety of events and activities, a Preschool Story Time recommended for children ages 3-5, and STEM kits that enable children to conduct a variety of experiments at home. We recently introduced Play Café, an unstructured playdate for children of all ages, and will host Homeschool Humdinger, a monthly club for all homeschool children, beginning this year. We are excited to be adding a collection of literacy kits to help young children with their reading skills and reading comprehension.
  2. FOR ADULTS - The public is welcome to attend our Adult Book Club in which we discuss a different selection every month, and the Arty Nerds Society, a monthly meetup for adults who create via needlework and all other art media. Genealogy and area history researchers are welcome to browse our onsite reference materials and historical archives for Rhome and surrounding communities. We host free Rhome Veterans meetings, Community Potluck luncheons, and Medicare seminars monthly.
  3. FOR EVERYONE - Contemporary and classic books and DVDs are available for all ages. Items not in our collection can be borrowed from other libraries via Interlibrary Loan. We strive to provide a selection of current titles for all ages in all genres.

We can provide pay-per-use print, copy, and fax services (cash and debit/credit accepted) plus free Wi-Fi and scanning to your own device. Our public access computers include one specifically for children 17 and under with preloaded educational games. Downloadable eBooks and Audiobooks are available for our patrons of all ages on Libby, SimplyE, and Biblioboard's E-Read Texas and E-Read Texas for Kids. All Rhome Community Library patrons can research thousands of informational and instructional sites for free through TexShare Databases

We cooperate with Northwest ISD via their Parents as Partners program and the Spanish Spelling Bee.

Our long term goal is to build a new facility that will serve residents in our rapidly growing area for years to come. Please go to rhomelibrary.org > Capital Campaign for information about our proposed new library. Your generous contributions will help us grow and thrive.

Mission

The mission of Rhome Community Library is to provide services, programming, and materials that are available to all residents in order to develop an engaged community and encourage lifelong learners.

Needs

Want to grow a new library? In addition to needing funding for all our programs and events, we have outgrown our current location and desperately need a bigger one. We are not a department of a city. The donations you make toward our programs and building are applied 100% to the Rhome Community Library. Discover what we have planned at rhomelibrary.org > Capital Campaign. Naming options are available.

Your support helps us continue to provide these services and more for free to the entire Rhome Library community.
