OutLoud Dallas

A nonprofit organization

Who We Serve: OutLoud serves approximately 135 youth ages 13-18, with some special projects for youth in early college. Our youth come from 29 different zip codes in the North Texas area, and are referred by their teachers, counselors, and other youth development organizations.

Our Programs:

OutLoud Voices:
Youth work with professional visual and spoken word artists, filmmakers, and photographers to engage in multidisciplinary storytelling projects. Through public art installations, interactive gallery exhibitions and films, youth emerge as changemakers, using their voices to tell stories that move people to action. In 2021, OutLoud is launching OutLoud Studios, a creative programming hub and youth-run public gallery space dedicated to showcasing multidisciplinary works of art that amplify youth voice. OutLoud Studios will be the first public art gallery in the country dedicated to showcasing high quality, year-round exhibitions created by youth.

Transformative Spaces:
Youth and Educators maximize their changemaking potential when well-being becomes a priority. OutLoud partners with schools and universities to create transformative, on-campus spaces that promote self- regulation, healing, and restoration. Our goal is to revolutionize schools from the inside out, combatting student and teacher burnout and disillusionment by normalizing self-care and holistic well-being. Our immersive space design transforms teacher lounges, traditional in-school-suspension spaces, and underutilized campus areas into multipurpose community spaces that offer decompression, creative engagement, and ignite the imagination of youth and educators.

Discovery Journeys:
OutLoud facilitates restorative journeys that reignite the imaginations of youth and educators through experiential discovery, cultivating a sense of wonder and exploration. OutLoud offers experiential learning trips for youth from different backgrounds, designed to foster connection, provide opportunities for self-discovery, and expand horizons. Whether youth are traveling on an airplane for the first time, or camping closer to home, participants in the Discovery Journeys program take risks and grow stronger together.

Our Needs

In addition to financial contributions to support our programs, OutLoud is seeking lightly used camera, lighting and audio equipment and new visual art supplies. Please contact Allison@weareoutloud.org if you would like to make an equipment or supply donation.

Mission

Our mission is to amplify youth voice and value youth as capable changemakers, artists and storytellers. Through the intersection of storytelling projects, creative discovery, and restorative practices, OutLoud creates spaces that value youth as the drivers of social change, promote wellbeing, and shift perspectives about the capabilities of young people.

Equity Statement

OutLoud engages the voices of young people in our community, working together to create a world where the inherent worth of all individuals is recognized and valued and all people have equitable access to resources and opportunity. We recognize racism as a national public health crisis, and as a youth development organization, we have an important role as part of a community-wide effort to dismantle systemic racism and create transformative change.
