Our organization is about promoting hymnody! If you have never been to a Hymn Festival before, please come and join us. Each event is led by a mass choir of adults and children while accompanied by the magnificent organ in the Meyerson, and the audience is encouraged to sing along on the hymns. It is truly a wonderful time!
While the hymn selections are familiar to Lutherans, it is notable that such traditional hymnody is shared by others. To learn more about the organization and to stay informed about the next hymn festival, follow us at www.lutheranhymnfestival.org.
Many people are surprised when they hear the costs of hosting a festival. In order for us to keep ticket prices low and encourage a high attendance to the hymn festival, we rely on donations from the general public to make everything possible. Our costs include the renting the Meyerson concert hall and organ, the purchasing of music for the choir and instrumentalists, the printing of the programs, and the design and printing of the event posters.
Our goal is to be able to host the next hymn festival in 2025, so in order to accomplish that, we need to raise $40,000 this year. It would be a blessing to have your support! We hope you will prayerfully consider helping our cause today!
For each Lutheran Hymn Festival, four goals are sought:
+ To glorify God . . . Soli Deo Gloria!
+ To encourage one another in the faith by singing hymns. The Scriptures bid us to do so: ". . .singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, singing and making melody to the Lord in your hearts; (give) thanks to God the Father at all times and for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." (Eph. 5:29-30 NEB)
And again: "Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus giving thanks to God the Father through Him." (Col. 3:16-17 NEB)
+ To proclaim the Gospel. To all gathered, the hymnody chosen gives us another opportunity to tell the story of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
+ To encourage and support the training of young church musicians.
