Get in the Huddle with Team L4Z

Parent Heart Watch reports sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death on school campuses and the #1 killer of student athletes.  For too many young hearts around us, the clock is ticking.  At Living for Zachary, we're here to do something about it.

Since 2009, Living for Zachary has impacted more than 1 million people through a well-rounded, strategic approach to preventing and responding to sudden cardiac arrest in youth. With your help, we can continue our work to make an even greater impact in the years ahead.

With an opponent like sudden cardiac arrest, it takes a dedicated Team to create brighter and healthier futures for our children. This year, it's time to go ALL IN to ensure Living for Zachary's services and programs can continue to expand to reach hearts across the entire state of Texas. Are you on the Team?

Your support will help make the following impact:

  • Provide youth heart screenings at no cost to children who may not otherwise be able to receive them
  • Enable large-scale AED donations to youth-based organizations and school districts across the state of Texas
  •  Certify the people who work with our children in CPR and AED use at no cost to them
  • Expand our new SuperHeart Program, bringing campus-wide change to prevention and response strategies for schools and youth-based organizations in North Texas
  • Provide scholarship support for students entering the field of cardiac sonography, so more hearts can be screened in the future

The clock is ticking...we need YOU in the Living for Zachary huddle!

Mission

Living for Zachary's mission is to raise awareness and prevent sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) in youth. The organization was founded in honor of Zachary Schrah, who was only 16 years old when he collapsed without warning during a high school football practice in Plano on April 2, 2009. After Zachary's death, his mother Karen founded Living for Zachary, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, in June of 2009. Since its inception, Living for Zachary has impacted thousands of families and children across Texas through youth heart screenings, AED donations, CPR/AED certification classes, scholarships, and awareness events.

For too many young hearts, the clock is running out...but we have the power to make a difference. On September 19th, we invite you to Get in the Huddle with the Living for Zachary Team as we seek to win the fight against sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) in youth!
