Needs
LOSF needs funding to help support programming for the Cachet Youth Group and our annual scholarship awards.
The Cachet Youth Group Programming is determined based on input from the members and committee annually. A sampling of the 2024 programming is below:
Induction – induction of new members, celebration of a new year
Senior Send-Off – celebrating graduating seniors and providing skills and encouragement for the transition from high school to college, as well as book scholarships for every graduating senior.
College Visits: Spring - Texas A & M University; Fall - TBD
Scholarships are awarded in conjunction with our annual Pink Ice event. Pink Ice is a talent showcase awarding scholarships and highlighting social justice awareness through the arts.
Social events with the girls allow mentors and mentees to bond with one another in a relaxed; yet, structured environment (i.e. sleep overs, painting parties, swim parties, etc..).
Workshops: Social Justice Writing Campaign; Preparing for My Future Self; Preparing Financially for College;
Dining Etiquette.
Volunteer opportunities are used to highlight the importance of giving back to the community and being actively involved in the changes you want to see in your community. The funding for these events is used to feed and transport the girls to the activities. In 2024 we participated in the following volunteer opportunities: Senior Citizens Love & Belonging Writing Campaign (Valentine’s Day); Community Service Throughout the Dallas Metroplex (North TX Food Bank, Equest Park, West Dallas Head Start).
In addition to the scholarships awarded to our dedicated Cachet Youth Group members, to date, LOSF has awarded over $500,000 in scholarships to deserving high school seniors and college students pursing their first undergraduate degrees. The organization is able to continue to support these students through the continued support of our members and the community.
