Lake Cities Hometown Helps Inc

A nonprofit organization

Hi! My name is Dana Jones, founder of Lake Cities Hometown Helps, Inc. I fell in love with watching local people help out in community situations. I saw there was a real need for a group to bring people together who wanted to reach out to help other people in my community. We live in Lake Dallas, part of 4 little "Lake Cities" that make our great community of Lake Cities! We are located in-between Denton and Lewisville Texas. My children grew up here and had kids here although I'm from a little West Texas town outside Lubbock where some of my fondest memories are Forth of July town fundraisers. I was raised on cake walks, cow patty bingo and plain ol' selling raffle tickets when someone needs help!

Last year, 2022 when the city reached out and said our little town didn't have money in the budget for a tree lighting or a parade, the community quickly jumped into action and helped fundraise the money to get it done. WE did it together! It was such a success that friends were reaching out about private needs and drives. A group of friends and face book followers decided we would try adopting some angel tags for kids and a few seniors. We had a blast and got completely carried away! We hope to double that this year and add many more seniors. We also have plans to get stocking for all the pets at the local shelters with your help. Bringing joy is infectious and people needed a place to get together and be organized in giving.

I wanted a local page where the community could post their fundraisers and we could raise awareness for our projects. Lake Cities Hometown Helps face book page was born after Christmas, and so many people wanted to get involved and help that we decided to form our own non-profit 501c3 Lake Cities Hometown Help Inc in February! We are growing and changing everyday but one thing stays the same, our passion for helping the community. We set up the pillars that were most important to us and felt like they often fall through the cracks and started small projects.

We have had a few can food drives for our town's blessing/ food boxes, a coat drive in February and whatever we can fit in.

We visit 2 nursing homes several times a week in shifts, some go to read or paint nails while some go to visit and sit. We love them like family.

We had a community clean up for our Lake Dallas Animal Shelter and help out from time to time. We share their post and help when they can't be reached.

We help our community in anyway we can! We are working on a school supply drive and toy run currently. We always have projects coming up!

We hope you will follow us on face book and see what we are working on now!

Thanks! Dana :)

Mission

🌈 We are a 501 c3, charity. Our mission is to seek the the needs of our great Lake Cities community and provide opportunities for those who would like to provide help, support, and resources. Our mission is to concentrate on the needs of our local seniors, veterans, animals and the care of our community. We plan and coordinate many fund raising events used to bless the community including filling the food pantries, coat drives, school supply drives, supporting the animal shelter, supporting the community to fill any cracks we see or that is brought to our attention. We have fundraisers planned to fill Santa’s sleigh 🛷 for all boys and girls as well as plans to adopt as many angel tags for kids, seniors and pets as possible this year for Christmas! We love working with our local partners and the commitment from all our volunteers and their love shines through! Our community is awesome!!

Our goal is to bring the Lake Cities community together to help the community and build it up! To strengthen our town and walk in love by serving others. It takes a Village, or as we like to say, some Lake Cities Hometown Help.
