Heroes for Children delivers urgent support to families navigating pediatric cancer — so they never feel forgotten, overwhelmed, or alone.



Every year, approximately 1,800 children in Texas are diagnosed with cancer. Behind every diagnosis is a family facing unimaginable challenges. Parents may have to leave their jobs or reduce their hours to care for their child, while medical expenses, travel, housing, groceries, and other everyday bills continue to pile up.

At Heroes for Children, we believe families should never have to choose between paying a bill and being by their child’s side. Since 2004, Heroes for Children has provided more than $8 million in direct financial and social assistance to Texas families with a child battling cancer. Through our 22 hospital partners, hospital social workers help identify families’ most urgent needs, allowing us to respond quickly and provide assistance within seven days of an approved application.

Financial Assistance: Providing critical financial relief to ease the burdens of pediatric cancer. 
Social Experiences: Creating meaningful experiences and fostering community for families.
Comfort & Care: Gifting tangible support and essential items to ease the cancer journey.

Mission

Heroes for Children advocates for and provides financial assistance and social support to Texas families with children (0-22 yrs of age) battling cancer. Our vision is that no family in Texas with a child battling cancer fight alone.
