1,800 children in Texas will be diagnosed with cancer this year. This diagnosis will touch each of their families differently, but all will be devastated. Many of them will lose their jobs, forced to choose between income and time spent by their child's bedside. There is a gap in the support offered to these families, leaving them unable to pay urgent bills and spend what might be fleeting moments with their sick children. We have an unwavering commitment that no family in Texas with a child battling cancer will have to fight alone.
Our Financial Assistance Impact Program is accomplished through a collaborative approach with our 22 hospital partners, where social workers at major pediatric hospitals communicate the immediate needs of the patients and their families. HFC responds immediately, sending funds within seven days of application.
Since 2004, Heroes for Children has provided over $8 million to Texas families in need through our financial and social assistance programs. There is no other organization that provides direct and immediate assistance to families with such ease when it comes to restoring normalcy and bringing comfort through each family’s journey.

Each request is capped at a maximum of $900, except for funeral assistance, which has a maximum of $1,500. This structure allows us to support more families with various needs while working closely with hospital social workers to allocate resources efficiently. This is the largest program Heroes for Children has.
