We are the largest publicly funded substance use and mental health treatment center in North Texas. We provide detoxification, inpatient treatment and outpatient support for homeless and low income people in 19 counties. We are a primary resource for North Texas judges and probation officers seeking behavioral health care for justice-involved individuals. Our Dallas County Jail Deflection Center and on-site Parkland clinic provide treatment instead of jail for minor offenders with behavioral health problems. Clients in our medically assisted treatment program for opioid use disorders have an 84 percent success rate. We are Texas' only provider of inpatient substance abuse treatment for HIV positive clients. We also provide treatment for mothers involved with Family Protective Services .
Our Needs
Our clients often come to us with multiple illnesses, physical and psychological. They need everything - decent food, diagnostic tests, medications, a safe place to stay, and the kind of evidence-based treatment for substance and mental health disorders that will help them. They desperately want to get well. But they have a high hill to climb.
They generally have nothing but the clothes on their backs. Those clothes usually fall apart when they are washed, leaving them without underwear, socks, shoes, shirts, pants. Your donations can help clothe them while they undergo treatment and as they move into recovery.
The three meals a day we feed them are often the first steady, clean, warm food they've had in months. They come to us so emaciated that many gain a pound a day. We could once stretch $65 into three meals a day for a week. But rising food costs and fewer donations have doubled our weekly food bills.
Please give whatever you can. Every penny will go to saving lives. Cutting crime. And making North Texas the kinder, more just community we all want it to be.
