Welcome
The Harvey Martin Dream Foundation plays a pivotal role in the lives of students that are planning their pathway to higher education beyond high school. We provide students with guidance, financial assistance and life necessities to reach the paramount goal of a successful life beyond high school.
The Harvey Martin Dream Foundation was founded by Mary Martin, sister of Harvey Martin. Harvey Martin is a retired Dallas Cowboys NFL football player. He played professionally from 1973 - 1983. He was Super Bowl XLVII Co-MVP, a member of the infamous Doomsday Defense, played in numerous Pro Bowls and had and EXTREME passion for impacting our youth.
THE PAST YEARS
- Through partnerships and donations, we have been able to provide 20 students with partial and full ride scholarships to various universities across the US at our Annual "Evening of Excellence" Awards Gala.
- We held a successful "Beautiful Life" Drive which provided families with life essential items, toys and school supplies. It is our belief that if a child doesn't have life necessities that they are more likely to fail in school than their counter parts that do have the means.
- Education Motivation Back 2 School Fair and College Expo - Provided over 200 students with school supplies, Hair Cut Vouchers and food vouchers. Jr. and Sr. High School students also had the opportunity to connect with 15 college and universities, receiving information on admissions, financial aid, student housing and more! Some of the colleges in attendance were Southern Methodists University, Prairie View A&M University, Texas Southern University, Dillard University, Dallas County Community Colleges, and Tarrant County Community Colleges.
- We have also hosted numerous college tours to give High School Jr's and Sr's an opportunity to get a glimpse of college life, meet with financial aid advisers, counselors and college students.
Our Needs
We cannot achieve our fruitful goals without your help! Due to the Covid 19 pandemic our fundraising efforts were halted. It will take the consideration of generous donors and sponsors for the foundation to rev us back into gear and grow to make an even greater impact.
We have set a fundraising goal of $80,000. This goal will allow us to successfully achieve all of our initiatives, exceed our scholarship goal, maintain staff, hold fundraisers and most importantly leave a lasting imprint on the lives of our youth.
Current Initiatives
- "Education Motivation" Back 2 School Drive and College Expo - We look to impact over 1500+ students by providing School Supplies, School Uniforms, Hair Cuts, Food Vouchers and more. This event also provides high school students with an opportunity to interact with college recruiters and Financial Aid counselors to kick start the conversation on admission requirements and steps.
- "Dream Maker Attire RoundUp" - We collect gently worn professional attire to be distributed at our Alpha Minds Readiness Boot Camp.
- "Alpha Minds Readiness Boot Camp" - At this boot camp high school and college students learn the fundamentals of how to interview for a job/internship, resume writing, proper email correspondence, social media tact/presence among other points. We are aiming to provide each participant with a suit, shoes and accessories to wear on job interviews.
- "HMDF College Tours" - We connect with universities in the local area to schedule college tours for our foundation participants. This gives students the opportunity to communicate with Financial Aid, Counselors, Recruiters and Campus Life Students.
- "Annual Evening of Excellence Gala" - Each year this event awards our scholarship recipients and recognizes their handwork. To date have handed out over $50,000 in scholarships. We have also been able to partner with Texas A&M University at Commerce, University of Texas at Arlington and University of Texas Dallas to provide students with partial and full ride opportunities. This year we look to Increase our scholarship capacity 10 fold. Our goal is to hand out 6 or more full ride scholarships and $50,000 or more in partial scholarships to 4-5 students in the North Texas area.
