In 2021 there were 204 domestic violence deaths in Texas. 71.6% of those victims were female.

40.1% of Texas women experience intimate partner violence, intimate partner rape, and/or intimate partner stalking in their lifetimes.

In 2020 the National Human Trafficking Hotline received 3,510 reports of human trafficking in Texas, of those reports, 993 were identified as cases of human trafficking.

These statistics only represent a fraction of the actual number of cases of domestic violence, intimate partner violence, and human trafficking in Texas as these crimes largely go unreported. They are, however, a sober reminder of the problems that exist in this state.

At Grit Plus Gumption we believe in a world where women survivors of domestic violence and sexual exploitation can heal from severe trauma and live in freedom. Our mission is to empower women survivors to continually pursue holistic healing in a safe community through free therapeutic services and quarterly healing retreats.

Needs

$600 allows one client to complete 12 weeks of their Story Workshop with their healing coach

$5,000 allows us to take two clients and on our seasonal retreat with two volunteer staff members. This cost covers transportation, lodging, food, and all activities.

We're raising these funds to cover the cost of two clients, and two upcoming (Fall 2023, and Winter 2024) retreats.

We are a small organization that operates off of a shoestring budget. Currently, we're only asking for $11,200.

Any additional funds raised will go towards our limited operational costs and providing any additional resources to our current clients.
