Tietze Park was acquired by the City of Dallas in 1924. That's right, this year Tietze Park will celebrate it's 100th birthday (you can read more about the Park's history here Tietze History)! Today the park is one of the most popular parks in Dallas and is said to be the most used per square foot by the neighborhood community as well as sports leagues and various groups. The park sits on 9 acres in the Lakewood area of Dallas with athletic fields, tennis and basketball courts, aquatic center, stone pavilion, playgrounds, walking path, and numerous shaded benches.
In 2002, a group of neighborhood residents formed the Friends of Tietze Park Foundation (FOTP). Since then the foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has been the leading advocate for the improvement, preservation, and continued beautification of the park. During these years the FOTP has worked tirelessly with the City to represent the interests of all park users and push for lasting park improvements, including making major contributions to lasting park amenities.
