About Us
FSM values approachability, reliability, and solidarity as fundamental to our mission of reducing the harm caused by broken social systems. In addition to addressing social determinants of health like food insecurity, clothing, social isolation, and financial crisis, we seek to deepen our impact holistically. In 2023, FSM added street outreach for those experiencing homelessness, including housing and healthcare navigation and other wraparound services.

Our Story
First Street Mission has a 50-year history providing services addressing social determinants of health such as food insecurity and homelessness, beginning as an effort of First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth, and formally incorporating as an auxiliary 501(c)3 in 2006. Since 2019, the number of unique individuals served by First Street Mission annually has grown by 55%, positioning the organization as the largest TAFB-affiliated food pantry by volume within the city of Fort Worth and a vital provider of services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness, especially those who may avoid the "shelter district" due to various vulnerabilities.
