$5,000 Goal

Music education is an essential part of a well-rounded education, but unfortunately, many students in underserved communities lack access to quality music instruction. That's where the DG Fine Arts comes in. This organization provides private music lessons to students in underserved communities, giving them the opportunity to develop their musical skills and talents. By working with local schools and community organizations, this organization identifies students who would benefit from private music lessons and matches them with skilled music teachers. The lessons are provided free of charge to the students, and the organization provides the necessary instruments and materials.

The impact of this organization on the lives of these students is immeasurable. For many of them, music is not just a hobby, but a lifeline. Music can provide a sense of purpose, discipline, and community that can be difficult to find in other areas of their lives. By providing private music lessons to these students, this organization is not just helping them develop their musical abilities, but also providing them with an outlet for self-expression and a sense of accomplishment. In addition, the organization is helping to level the playing field for these students, giving them access to the same opportunities that their more affluent peers have. This is not just about giving students the chance to play an instrument; it's about creating a pathway to success and empowerment through music.

Giving Activity

Mission

DG Fine Arts is a 501(c)3 academic enrichment organization that is dedicated to the research, recording, and preservation of African-American American music and dance genres through culturally relevant resources and experiences for students and teachers in underserved communities.

Needs

DG Fine Arts seeks funding to provide in-school private lessons by supporting qualified instructors, developing comprehensive curriculum, and integrating essential technology to enhance student learning.

Equity Statement

DG Fine Arts was founded on the principle of providing equitable access to culturally responsive music and dance resources. Through exposure and education, we create a safe, inclusive community where student artists are able to thrive regardless of race, sexuality, religion, or gender. We are dedicated to improving equity in music education citywide by offering free private and group lessons during the school day, meeting students directly where they are—at no cost to them. Cost has historically been a barrier that prevents many students of color from becoming fully competitive in the performing arts. By eliminating this barrier, we help level the playing field for economically disadvantaged students and increase their opportunities to earn scholarships to prominent college programs and gain access to professional performance ensembles.
