Our Needs
Our organization is fully supported by volunteers. We do not have anyone on paid staff.
We are in need of donations/sponsors for our Scholarship Fund. Annually, we host an Awards Banquet & Silent Auction in October and all proceeds benefit our local Scholarship Fund. Due to COVID-19, we are unable to host the banquet in 2020 AND 2021. Funds we receive through North Texas Giving Day will assist us in providing Scholarships to local students from Collin County. Funds we receive through North Texas Giving Day will assist us in providing scholarships for college students and graduating seniors in the Class of 2022.
Funding is also needed for our annual "Cena en el Barrio". Each December, we adopt a local school and provide full meals to families in need. The meals feed 6-10 persons. Winter coats and a new pair of shoes are also gifted to each K-12 child living in the home. In previous years schools have also identified the need for basic toiletries, school supplies and feminine hygiene products, mattresses and financial assistance for an exterminator. Funds we receive through North Texas Giving Day will assist us in these efforts this holiday season.
Mission
The mission of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) is to advance the economic condition, educational attainment, political influence, housing, health and civil rights of the Hispanic population of the United States.
Collin County LULAC Council #4537 invests in Collin County! Annually, we raise money for local scholarships given to students from Collin County. To date, we have provided more than $300,000 in scholarships to high school seniors and returning college students.
We also provide support to the Collin County LULAC Youth Council.
Additional Programs that we sponsor include: LULAC Cena en el Barrio ("Dinner in the Neighborhood" Christmas Holiday Meal & Gifts Program), and GOTV Programs. Visit our website for more information
