CHIA was founded more than 40 years ago by Dr. John and Sue Sherman as a faith-based medical missions organization providing medical services across the border from El Paso to impoverished communities in Mexico. Today CHIA has grown to include clean water solutions and discipleship training in Texas, Latin America, and South America. Over the past five years, CHIA has provided clean water to 4500 families, served more than 5000 patients and trained 750 in evangelism and discipleship.
CHIA's mission is to "Touch the world with gifted hands and change hearts with the soul-saving message of our Lord Jesus Christ."
CHIA has received a generous $50,000 matching donation is looking to raise $100,000 to fund our various initiatives and operating budget through the end of the year. Our initiatives include:
Medical Outreaches - short missions into communities that have little to no access to medical care.
Clean Water - CHIA provides water systems that provide clean and safe drinking water to homes that lack those resources.
Discipleship and Evangelism Training - Training others in evangelism and discipleship is our core initiative. CHIA is committed to plant small teams to accomplish the Great Commission.
