Great animal rescue organizations are judged not just by the scale of the work that they do, but by the impact that work has on the lives of the animals they seek to serve. As the only accredited bat sanctuary in the world, we provide lifetime sanctuary to non-releasable bats, including those that are orphaned, injured, confiscated from the illegal pet trade and retired from zoos and research facilities. Bat World Sanctuary was founded in 1994 and is a 501c3 non-profit, volunteer based organization. Donations allow us to continue our rescue efforts for bats.

Providing permanent sanctuary for non-releasable bats.

The protection and conservation of wild bat colonies.

Promoting the humane treatment of bats in captivity.

Educating the public about the importance of bats.

Training animal care professionals on the proper treatment of bats

We've experienced over 1,000 wildfires in the state of Texas this past summer with some dangerously close. To protect the exterior of the building, we began fire drills using our barricade System that was generously donated by Lynn Hochstetter.

For NTGD 2022, we are trying to raise the funds needed for an advanced fire alarm system for the interior of our facility. This system is hard-wired and will alert us to any smoke detected inside the building, thereby allowing time to extinguish the fire. The system also alerts our closest fire department. With the cost of a sprinkler system for our facility close to $500,000, the advanced fire alarm system is our best option in keeping the sanctuary animals safe.

As the only accredited bat sanctuary on earth, our primary goal is to protect the precious beings in our care to the utmost of our ability. This Giving Day, please consider helping us protect the bats by donating
