At After-School All-Stars North Texas, OUR TALENT SHOWS!

Each of us possess a talent, something that drives joy and fulfillment as we navigate the intricacies of life. Some of us discover that talent later in life, while some of us are fortunate enough to discover that talent far earlier on, giving us the opportunity to finesse our craft and build it into something that not only fulfills us, but offers to the communities surrounding us as well. At After-School All-Stars North Texas, we are dedicated to empowering our All-Stars develop their talents from the moment they step into our program.

Unfortunately, it is common for youth from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds to face significant challenges to receiving the same support their more affluent peers receive in developing their talents. This is where we step in. Whether a child’s aspiration lies in learning to cook a chef-tier meal, painting a portrait to someday rival Picasso, or mastering STEM skills that eventually land them on a faraway planet, we give them a solid and safe place to start their journey. We achieve this through offering our programming at no cost to the students we serve and directly at the schools they attend, eliminating the barriers of cost and transportation most commonly faced by youth waiting to enroll in programs like ours.

At After-School All-Stars North Texas, we firmly believe that a child's access to critical success driving resources, like quality education and enrichment, should never be determined by their zip code, race/ethnicity, or socioeconomic status. This is why we remain dedicated to helping all students find their spark. Join us for North Texas Giving Day 2022, as we work together as a community to develop the next life-changing talent for a child who just needs a safe place to shine.

Mission

After-School All-Stars (ASAS) North Texas' mission is to provide comprehensive, cost-free after-school programs that keep children safe and help them succeed in school and life.

Our vision for our All-Stars is to be healthy and active, to graduate high school and go on to college or trade school, to find a job that they love, and to give back to their communities.

Needs

In Dallas County alone, 100,000 children are left without the after-school enrichment their parents say they need. This enrichment engages students from the hours of 3 P.M. to 6 P.M. This time stands as the period when students are most likely to engage in risky behavior, such as drug use, violence, and other high-risk activities. Despite that information, very few afterschool programs are free or low-cost to students and their families. This is where we see an opportunity and why we take the challenge of sustainability and expansion head on. While it may seem like a simple concept to reach as many schools as quickly as we can, ASAS is dedicated to creating sustainable, quality programming for North Texas youth. The slow return from the impact COVID-19 had, and continues to have, on our community and funding sources also drastically impacts our rate of expansion.

In today's climate, every moment that a child is without quality education and enrichment matters. Without youth feeling empowered to reach academic and professional success while valuing their community, it is not just that child who is impacted, but the community as a whole. Through the support of our friends and partners, After-School All-Stars will be better equipped to sustain existing programming while looking to potential sources for expansion to the many students who need that empowerment.
