Ability Connection
Ability Connection is all about enriching the lives of children and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities through comprehensive, life changing care, training and support...one person at a time. Disability exists when there is a gap between a person's capacity and the demands of a particular situation; be it living, working or enjoying the community. Our job is to bridge that gap through individual support, adaptations to the environment or demands and training so that people may enjoy the same quality of life as their non-disabled peers. We have a renewed commitment to provide world class services to people with disabilities. We at Ability Connection do not define "world class"; each individual along with their family define what world class means to them and we have an obligation to deliver those services. We offer a variety of services, designed to address the individual choices and priorities. These services include: residential services, community support through Medical Waiver programs, on-site training centers with tiered levels of support to address the needs of our clientele and employment support services. For each person served, we learn what their goals and choices are, facilitate the support and services needed and then measure their success and satisfaction. We enrich the lives of people with disabilities...one person at a time. Ability Connection formerly United Cerebral Palsy Association was organized in 1953; dedicated solely to delivering life changing healthcare, education, vocational training, independent living skills and community inclusion for all clients with disabilities. In 2011, we changed our name to Ability Connection to better reflect the diversity of our members and their talents. We are noted as the top disability provider in the state, leading our community on innovation and service quality. Our audience is anyone that has been diagnosed with a physical or intellectual disability before the age of 22. Our goals are simple; increase participation and create an environment where clients with disabilities can set goals. With our help and guidance, members can achieve those goals of independence, education, vocational skills, inclusion, social skills and improvement of health and nutrition. We have created an independent living studio where clients work with an instructor and case manager to help track individual progress, plan and help them set achievable goals to improve cognitive and motor skills.
