Holy Sews DFW reaches out to all hospitals in North Texas, offering to provide a special handmade layette to their patients who have experienced a loss of an infant during early second trimester. These babies are usually about 7-10 inches long and weigh only a few ounces-too small for even preemie size gowns. Our layettes are handmade with love and understanding by a talented group of volunteers who give countless hours to serving. These volunteers often purchase their own fabric and supplies to make sure every family who experiences a loss can clothe their precious baby.
"I received a Holy Sews layette after I experienced my 3rd miscarriage at 22 weeks. It was so comforting to know that someone out there cared enough to make tiny clothing to fit my precious son. I was able to dress him. Hold him. Photograph him. Cherish him. He was my son. Our first 2 miscarriages were quite different and our babies were not treated with this same dignity. Because of Holy Sews, we were able to grieve for all 3 of our children. Because of Holy Sews, we decided to try again. Because of Holy Sews, we have our rainbow baby who turns 3 later this year." ---- Maggie

"I have been a labor & delivery nurse for nearly 20 years. The loss of a baby is devastating for families - at any gestational age. We used to struggle with finding anything that could be used to dress babies born before 25 weeks. Holy Sews has answered our need by providing an amazing gift for these families - a gift of love and respect for these tiniest of babies. Their beautiful layettes allow the parents to dress their baby in clothing that fits - clothing that was made just for them. This simple gesture of love and understanding helps provide comfort at one of the darkest moments of these families' lives. Now, we don't know what we would do without the loving hands of this organization." --- Julia, L&D Nurse
