Through donations, sponsorships and volunteers, The Friends organization oversees the maintenance and beautification of the trail, including native landscaping, trail maps, bike racks, benches, water fountains, waste baskets, and public art. We work with the many communities around and impacted by the Santa Fe Trail to discover how the community uses the trail and what changes they would most like to see. Working with the City of Dallas Park and Recreation Department, the Park Board, Public Works and other entities, we ensure that community ambitions become reality. In early 2023, FOSFT partnered with the Dallas Park and Recreation Department to fulfill our Santa Fe Shade campaign by planting 50 new trees along the trail!
Our Needs
Friends of Santa Fe Trail is excited to have received full adoption of our Master Plan by the City of Dallas! This plan includes many more amenities and larger scale beautification projects along the entire trail. In 2022, we set our sights higher than ever with an annual fundraising goal of $75,000. Thanks to individual donors and our amazing corporate sponsors, we blew that out of the water by raising over $78,000!!! But our work is not done. We have an opportunity to take advantage of match funds, already approved by the City of Dallas, at nearly $100,000. North Texas Giving Day is your opportunity, in 2023, to help sizably fill that $20,000 gap! We graciously ask for your help with these fundraising efforts, because $100,000 in the bank for FOSFT means a total of $200,000 for the trail!
