Food for the Soul is a faith-based nonprofit dedicated to sharing God’s love by providing free, nutritious food to neighbors in need. Food for the Soul’s programs focus on meeting the needs of our food insecure children and families by providing free, high-quality food to as many people as we can possibly reach. We do this through three programs. The Backpack Program provides essential food specifically to children in need in our community. We currently have 19 schools on the waitlist for our Backpack Program, including Chisholm Ridge Elementary (Eagle Mountain Saginaw ISD) which has 740 students. The Fuel the Future Program provides the protein-packed, nutritious meals needed to student athletes at Kimball High School, allowing them to thrive in high school athletics – a feat that, without food, would not be possible. The Fuel the Family Program provides food and other essential nonfood items to families and individuals in need within our communities at our partnered distribution sites. Our Partner distribution sites provides food to over 26,000 families a week.

We're also thrilled to introduce a brand-new program in the 2022-2023 school year in partnership with Arlington ISD. Food for the Soul is launching an innovative inner-school Snack Pantry program within the Arlington ISD Student Outreach Services Closet (S.O.S. Closet). The Arlington ISD Student Outreach Services department serves pre-K through twelfth grade with a capacity for some campuses to obtain items our Snack Pantry to house at their campus for students before, during, or after school. The purpose of the Snack Pantry is to help alleviate child hunger during the day in the Arlington ISD community by distributing snack foods and drinks to all the schools. There will be up to 5,000 potential students using the snack pantry.

Food is fundamental for life, and when food is scarce, it impacts and hinders developmental growth, especially in the lives of the children we serve. The consistent, quality food we distribute to our community has a bigger impact than what it may seem. Students in our Fuel the Future Program have repeatedly told us how they are now able to look to the future with hope, whereas prior to involvement in our program, all their attention was fixed on how they would get their next meal.

We invite you to support these efforts by making a  Financial Donation: one time gift, recurring donation, and or a Legacy planned giving. Help us feed the children who in 19 schools who are on our wait list for our backpack program. (Become a Food for the Soul Hope Hero!)
