LEADS

FRI leads by identifying and mobilizing leadership within the Far East Dallas community.
We teach and empower ordinary people how to accomplish extraordinary things.

Our Needs

FRI’s current needs focuses on building our capacity so that we can better

  • expand advocacy efforts as we continue to navigate city hall to ensure our community receives our fair share of capital bond program improvements in the upcoming 2024 Bond Program
  • connect with our local nonprofit partners and faith communities to ensure their services will result in transformed lives making a greater impact for those in need, whether it’s providing healthcare, addressing food insecurity, rental/financial assistance, or workforce development.
  • connect with local developers to continue to provide quality mixed income housing and retail in our community.
  • offer Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and Financial Literacy programs to low-income families.
  • coordinate, manage, and promote annual volunteer events like FRI’s Operation Beautification Litter Cleanup, Blood Drives, and park Tree Plantings
  • provide opportunities for civil discourse and community engagement allowing community members self-agency to create the community they want.
  • expand communication efforts across all platforms to engage, connect, and serve as a resource to the Far East Dallas community

Mission

The mission of FRI is to engage and empower a community of advocates to advance a safe, beautiful, prosperous and proud Far East Dallas.

Equity Statement

The Ferguson Road Initiative (FRI) serves an economically and ethnically diverse community in Far East Dallas. We are aware of the inequities and structural deficiencies that exist in our society. That is why, for more than 25 years, FRI has worked to foster a community that is just, sustainable, and equitable for all, not just a privileged few, who call this area home. We are proud of the work we do in support of racial diversity, equity, and inclusion and will continue to listen, advocate, engage, and respect the people we serve.
