Directions 12

Directions offers working class families an affordable opportunity to provide their family member suffering from alcoholism a safe, dignified place to stay as they negotiate their first thirty days in sobriety. Supported by members of the surrounding Dallas Forth Worth Area Recovery Community they are introduced to 12 Step Recovery as the primary path to recovery. Daily readings, talks and discussions amongst residents and local recovery volunteers who have worked the 12 Steps, offers a time honored and proven method for recovery. All our guests are voluntary and are not mandated to be there. We do not accept any third party payment from insurance or governmental entity as it diverts us from our primary purpose.

Based on The Retreat in Minnesota, Directions will use the same model of peer driven, community supported fellowship to ensure that our guests are making progress weekly. This not only keeps our cost reasonable ($4000 for a thirty day stay) but is also more effective in keeping alcoholics sober. Statistics from The Retreat mirror those offered in the book Alcoholics Anonymous that say that 50% remain sober in their first years and 25% recover after brief periods of relapse.

Each alcoholic impacts the lives of at least 7 people during their drinking phase and so, conversely, those seven people will be positively impacted by the alcoholics ongoing recovery.

4) Volunteers in recovery from Alcohol and Drug Addiction willing to carry the message
