The outcomes of our reading program are truly remarkable. During the summer of 2023 participants read over 750 books, and they took home almost 1000 books.  Each day at camp, children received 80 minutes of literacy interventions, including 40 minutes of reading out loud with an adult volunteer.  As a result, 96.9% of attendees maintained or improved their reading level, and 76% of young-adult interns increased their confidence in the ability to use their unique gifts, talents, and passions in a leadership role. Project Transformation Central Texas has a proven track record for providing a remedy for the summer literacy slide that under-served children face, guiding young adults toward their vocation, and connecting churches with their communities in unique ways.

Mission

Our mission is to transform communities by engaging children, college-age young adults, and churches in purposeful relationships.

Our ultimate purpose is to transform communities. We believe that transformation, both individual and communal, happens through mutual relationships. At Project Transformation, community transformation is about the restoration of relationships with God and neighbor. In an increasingly isolated and disconnected society, PT creates connection - to neighbor, to God, and to ourselves - that transcends racial, socioeconomic, and generational boundaries. Building mutual relationships is a slow, arduous and messy process, but leads to lasting change in communities. Engaging children, college-age young adults, and churches:

PT's program model intentionally connects three groups - children, college-age young adults, and churches. The program engages children in holistic development, strengthening their literacy, social-emotional and spiritual skills. At the same time, young adults are engaged in purposeful leadership and ministry as they lead children's programming, live in an intentional Christian community, and focus on vocational discernment. And, the program is a tool to connect churches with their communities through hosting and supporting our summer day camps.

The primary medium through which transformation happens is relationships. Children, young adults and churches are transformed by and through relationships with the other two groups. These relationships are reciprocal, meaning the individuals in the relationships both teach and learn, both give and receive, both contribute and benefit. Mutual, loving relationships are life-giving and life-changing-they call us toward our individual and collective purpose.

Equity Statement

Project Transformation Central Texas believes in the equality of all people. This is why we are committed to the work of racial equity.

We acknowledge that the persistence of systemic racism continues to harm the BIPOC community.

Project Transformation Central Texas commits to being a change agent for racial equity in mutual partnership with our communities. We understand that this is a journey that will take commitment and humility.

Next steps in our journey are as follows:

* Increase racial diversity at all levels within the organization.

* Pursue new partnerships that will enable us to reach additional BIPOC partners.

* Begin the process to require annual unconscious bias & cultural humility training for board, staff and volunteers.

* Update policies, procedures, trainings to better reflect racial equity.

* Implement racially equitable curriculum

We envision a world that is rooted in love, pursues the equity of all people, and amplifies God's call on every life.
