More Than a Service Dog - A Community for Life.

At Patriot PAWS, our mission extends far beyond training and placing Public Access Service Dogs of the highest quality. We are equally committed to providing something that can be just as life-changing for the Veterans we serve: camaraderie, connection, and a community that remains by their side for a lifetime.

For many of the Veterans we serve, one of the most difficult parts of transitioning back to civilian life after service is the loss of the close-knit camaraderie and sense of belonging they once knew.  Losing these crucial sources of connection can make everyday life increasingly difficult, sometimes leading to isolation and a dangerous cycle of reclusiveness that has already claimed the lives of far too many of our nation's heroes. This is where the community provided by Patriot PAWS becomes not just life-changing, but potentially life-saving.

Whether a Veteran becomes involved through volunteer opportunities while waiting to receive a Service Dog, visits our campus to reconnect with fellow brothers and sisters over a cup of coffee, or attends an event hosted by the organization, these opportunities for connection remind our clients of one powerful truth: there is a place where they are seen, understood, and will always belong. As a lifetime placement organization, this crucial sense of community does not end when a client receives a Patriot PAWS Service Dog - it remains.

When you give to Patriot PAWS this North Texas Giving Day, your donation does more than put a leash in the hand of one of our nation's heroes. It helps restore hope, purpose, connection, and a sense of belonging - things that no Veteran should ever have to live without. These are pillars of our mission that we will proudly continue to provide for as long as our clients allow us the privilege of serving them.

Thank you for helping us change more lives this North Texas Giving Day & ensuring that every Veteran is still here when their Service Dog is ready.

Why Patriot PAWS Service Dogs

Patriot PAWS exists to remove the biggest barrier to lifeline that a Service Dog truly is: cost. Providing a single Service Dog to a Veteran is an intensive, months-long commitment of expert time and care that exceeds $50,000, a cost well beyond the reach of most families.

Each dog receives 18–24 months of specialized training tailored to the specific needs of the Veteran they will serve, followed by thorough placement, handler education, and ongoing support, including free veterinary care, personal monthly check-ins, and home visits by Patriot PAWS staff, to ensure the team succeeds for the long haul. But Veterans will never see that cost. At Patriot PAWS, every Service Dog is provided at no charge, and every Veteran receives not just a dog, but a community that walks with them for life.

From monthly check-ins and home visits to free veterinary care, our commitment is long-term. And while Veterans wait for their dog, they are never left alone. Patriot PAWS hosts outreach and fellowship programs that remind every Veteran they belong, that they are part of the Patriot PAWS family, and that we will stand beside them every step of the way.

Mission

The mission of Patriot PAWS is to train and provide Service Dogs of the highest quality at no cost to disabled American Veterans and others with mobile disabilities in order to help restore their physical and emotional independence.

In recent years, Patriot PAWS has also expanded their Service Dog curriculum to serve Traumatic Brain Injuries, as well as Post-Traumatic Stress.

It takes 18-24 months to raise, train and certify a Service Dog for their Veteran and a cost of over $50,000 to provide a lifetime of services to the Veteran/Service Dog Team. PPSD provides free veterinary care as well as pre-and post- placement community events, monthly check-ins, giving these Heroes a stress-free experience with their Service Dog.

Equity Statement

Patriot Paws considers ALL applications regardless of age, race, sexual orientation, or religion. The respect and dignity of our country's Veterans are of paramount concern.

Additionally, your branch of service, length of service, and disability rating are for informational purposes ONLY and not factors used to determine eligibility for a Service Dog.
