Keep Dallas Beautiful

A nonprofit organization

Keep Dallas Beautiful was an early environmental organization in Dallas, begun by Ebby Halliday in the 60's when Ms. Halliday worked with Lady Bird Johnson to start Keep Texas Beautiful. Prior to becoming dormant in 2011, Keep Dallas Beautiful contributed the early funding to establish Klyde Warren Park. In 2017 KDB was reinvigorated, updated its mission and has focused on community education to bring environmental issue awareness to our community. Under this new board, KDB is a Keep America Beautiful President's Circle Awardee, has worked within our education system promoting environmental stewardship and helped five area schools receive national recognition as Keep America Beautiful Schools. Within the school certification process Dallas boasts the first high school as well as the college in the nation to receive this designation. Keep Dallas Beautiful is represented on multiple Keep America Beautiful committees, including KAB Big Cities and KAB Youth Initiative.

Our Needs

Keep Dallas Beautiful hosts various clean-up, recycling and beautification events each year (approximately 1/month). Events cost our organization $2-4K each, depending on the supplies and effort involved. KDB pays for all supplies related to KAB schools certification. The cost for a school to certify is dependent on the activities students choose, but range from $600 - $1,000/year.

Mission

To establish and implement sustainable programs which focus on ending liter, community beautification and improving recycling.
