House of Rebirth History

Founded in 2019 by X Olamina (they/them) & Robyn Crowe (she/her); House of Rebirth began with a vision of safety, access, and healing for the specific needs of Black Trans Women in Dallas TX.

In the aftermath of the murders of Muhlaysia Booker and Merci Mack in Oak Cliff and in the midst of an epidemic of violence facing Black trans women in Texas; BIPOC TGNC communities and our allies gathered to create solutions.

House of Rebirth was born.

For 5 years we have provided culturally competent community, housing, case management, HIV prevention, and life-saving resources to hundreds of Black transgender women, responding to an acute resource crisis.

Today our communities are again challenged to stand up in the face of attack. The passage of SB 14 a record number of anti-trans bills in the Texas legislature and around the country are compounded by bills aiming to restrict how educators can discuss systemic racism, and social issues related to race and sex in schools.

We must work together to fight back against the passage of these laws and create safe spaces to support our communities in the interim.

Join us now as we expand our vision through Rebirth Center to serve all Transgender, Gender Diverse youth and adults of Color in Texas!

TOGETHER EVERYTHING  IS POSSIBLE!

Rebirth Center

We are working to raise $350k in addition to an already secured 100k to build Rebirth Center to serve BIPOC TGNC in North Texas.

Rebirth Center provides a safe space for medical and mental health resources, youth programs, career development, community advocacy and so much more! We need sustainable resources now more than ever and we hope you will stand with us to create Rebirth Center.

Emergency Housing Resources & Support

We currently are able to offer housing support to TGNC Youth 18-25. Due to the continued need for housing resources outside of this age range, we host a fund to provide hotel vouchers, case management, and housing navigation.

Equity Statement

At House of Rebirth, we are dedicated to promoting equity, inclusivity, and justice for the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), TGNC (Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming), and LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Queer) communities. We believe that every individual, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender identity, or sexual orientation, deserves equal opportunities, access, and support.

1. Commitment to Anti-Oppression: We acknowledge and actively challenge the intersecting systems of oppression, such as racism, transphobia, homophobia, and sexism, that disproportionately affect BIPOC TGNC and LGBT individuals. We commit to dismantling these systems and promoting an inclusive society where everyone can thrive.

2. Centering Marginalized Voices: We recognize that marginalized communities have historically been excluded and silenced. We prioritize the voices, experiences, and leadership of BIPOC TGNC LGBT individuals, ensuring their perspectives inform our work and decision-making processes.

3. Intersectional Approach: We understand that individuals' experiences are shaped by multiple aspects of their identity. We adopt an intersectional lens to address the unique challenges faced by individuals who navigate the intersections of race, ethnicity, gender identity, and sexual orientation.

4. Cultivating Inclusivity: We strive to create a safe and affirming environment that embraces diversity in all its forms. We are committed to fostering a culture that welcomes individuals from diverse backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences, where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered.

5. Access and Resources: We work diligently to identify and address the barriers that prevent BIPOC TGNC LGBT individuals from accessing resources, services, and opportunities. We endeavor to provide equitable access to essential support, education, advocacy, and healthcare, acknowledging the specific needs of our community members.

6. Collaborative Partnerships: We actively seek partnerships with other organizations, institutions, and individuals committed to advancing equity and justice for the BIPOC TGNC LGBT communities we serve. By collaborating and leveraging collective strengths, we can create a more inclusive and intersectional movement for social change.

7. Continuous Learning and Growth: We recognize that achieving equity requires ongoing education and self-reflection. We are committed to continually learning, growing, and challenging our own biases and privilege. We strive to create spaces for dialogue, education, and engagement that promote understanding, empathy, and solidarity.

8. Advocacy and Empowerment: We advocate for policies, legislation, and practices that promote the rights, dignity, and well-being of BIPOC TGNC + LGBT individuals. We empower community members to become agents of change, supporting their leadership development and amplifying their voices in the pursuit of social justice.

By embracing these principles, House of Rebirth endeavors to create a more equitable and inclusive society, where all individuals, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender identity, or sexual orientation, can live authentically and thrive without fear of discrimination or violence.
