The Hillcrest High School Community is diverse. In it you hear many languages and see many skin colors. Students come from every walk of life and every economic level, and their hopes and aspirations are equally diverse.

Hillcrest is in the heart of Preston Hollow, but unlike its closest neighbor private and public schools, it lacks the depth of parent and alumni financial support that ensures teachers are appreciated (and thereby retained), sports teams have resources to compete and those less fortunate find ways to experience the "extras" like prom, school trips, advanced academic training and even in some cases food to eat.

Hillcrest High School was recently updated. It now looks the part of a beautiful school located in a largely upscale neighborhood with the addition of 21 classrooms, two gyms and a world-class weight room. Hillcrest is the only DISD high school to offer both a collegiate academy and an IB program, and many neighborhood families are starting to take notice. Transfers from prominent area private schools are now at an all-time high, and athletics also continued to shine, with baseball, basketball and football teams making the playoffs, wrestling winning at state and more.

However, despite all the Hillcrest High School has going for it - a new building, strong academic leadership and a well-rounded offering of extracurricular activities - the strain of operating on such a shoestring of external support leaves teachers, students and administrators strained to the max. Without parent and community financial support the improvement of the school will be limited to a shiny new façade. The steam under our scholars and our athletes need fuel to keep moving forward. Our hope is that more families, alumni and Dallas-area residents living in the areas adjacent to Hillcrest will become aware of the need in their backyard school and decide to provide financial support.

Our Needs

With 74% of Hillcrest's students coming from economically disadvantaged families, funds are needed to make up the gap for families with fewer resources and means of support. School supplies, uniforms for sports teams, and special events such as homecoming festivities require funds; funds that if not given, will mean students going without the basics that define a high school experience.
