The American Cancer Society's life-saving services and programs serve any constituent in need, regardless of status, age, or ability. We hope to meet the needs of those who bear the greatest burden from a cancer diagnosis including but not limited to un(der)insured individuals as well as the elderly, those living in rural areas, and minorities. One of the biggest barriers to care during a cancer diagnosis is access to housing and transportation. Thanks to the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge program we are working to relieve some of those issues.
The Gene and Jerry Jones Family Hope Lodge in Dallas provides a free home and transportation for cancer patients and their caregivers during the time of treatment. More than just a roof over their heads, it's a nurturing community that helps patients access the care they need. The Hope Lodge community offers a supportive, homelike environment where guests can share a meal, join in the evening's activities, or unwind in their own private rooms.
Opening in October 2021 the Gene and Jerry Jones Family Hope Lodge has 50 available rooms and offers a savings of over $218 a night for patients staying under its roof.
