Agape is Celebrating Its 10th Anniversary!!!

For 10 years, Agape has successfully empowered homeless women led families to move from crisis, poverty and abuse to fulfilling, self-sustaining lives by providing safe, stable transitional housing, childcare, workforce education, transportation assistance, budgeting, credit repair, health care and counseling.

As Agape looks back on the past 10 years and ahead toward the next 10 years, we also wanted to take a look back at our past North Texas Giving Day heroic women who have helped us promote our NTXGD event. Each of these women have had to overcome barriers to succeed, just like our Agape women.

These are Dorothy, Snow White, Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, Rapunzel and Rey. This year’s heroic woman is none other than Wonder Woman, herself. Wonder Woman has decided to join together these past heroes to form the “Agape Justice League”. Together their forces will be used toward Empowering Women. Join us as we “Fight for those who cannot fight for themselves!”

Funds raised through the generous support of North Texas Giving Day donors and sponsors will provide resources needed to help women and children overcome the oppression of homelessness, poverty and abuse and look forward with hope to futures not limited or defined by their past.

We cannot do this without YOU! With people like you, we have had 10 successful years. With people like you, we can have 10 more, and more!

Since November 2013, when Agape opened its first home in East Plano, it has grown from 2 beds and a crib to supporting, on average, 30 families a year in 6 OWNED and 3 rental units with 55 beds. Since inception, Agape has provided over 76,000 nights of housing and hope for 262 souls, including 111 women head of household families with 151 children. Over 91% of Agape families are survivors of family violence, sexual assault, or trafficking. 76% have graduated with jobs that enable them to provide homes and stability for their children whose past experiences no longer define their future hopes.

The success of Agape’s proven, 2-generational transitional housing program is anchored in safe, stable housing, workforce & financial education to higher income, developmental childcare, transportation assistance, financial literacy and budget coaching, job placement assistance, health and counseling for women and children. Agape is not a Band-Aid for one cause of homelessness, but provides holistic, faith-based services and solutions proven to help our Agapeans move on to fulfilling, self-sustaining lives realizing the plans God has for each of us: no harm, true shalom, and a future with hope.

"I will fight for those who cannot fight for themselves!"
